Repeal of Death Tax is a No-Brainer

Posted in: Get it Right | Comments (3)

News outlets are reporting that House Republican freshmen are behind an aggressive push to get Speaker John Boehner to “bring a full repeal of the federal estate tax (death tax) to a vote on the House floor.

Let’s be clear on this: the so-called Death Tax is a punitive tax that not only kills jobs, but it can torpedo and destroy small, family businesses, farms and ranches — many that have been passed down through generations.

Now with President Obama’s plan to take an even bigger slice of the pie from hard-working Americans through a dramatic increase in the Estate Tax rate from 35 percent to 55 percent — it makes this latest news all the more encouraging.

The Death Tax Repeal Permanency Act of 2011 (H.R. 1259) currently has 206 House co-sponsors — including four Democrats — ensuring easy passage in the GOP dominated House.

GOP freshman class president Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) wrote a letter to the Speaker, we “are eager to present a clear cut choice to voters: Support the Republican plan to bury the death tax or support Democrats’ plan to hike the death tax to a crushing 45 percent, or higher.”

Americans — especially mature Americans who have worked long and hard to leave a financial legacy to their loved ones aren’t interested in having Obama and his minions take what isn’t theirs, and they are saying as much through phone calls and petitions.

It’s time to let your voice  be heard — now and at the ballot box in November.

Our Reckless Government Waste Continues

Posted in: The Right Angle | Comments (23)

If this doesn’t make you stark-raving mad I’m not sure what will.

The latest example of bureaucratic incompetence involves billions of dollars in taxpayer refunds being siphoned by illegal aliens who are using loopholes in the IRS system to claim numerous dependents — including neices and nephews that don’t even live in the U.S.

Here’s the best part — even though federal bureaucrats are aware of the crisis, they refuse to take action.

These loopholes allow illegals to even claim child tax credits for relatives living in foreign countries. The total cost of the illegal alien-funding child tax credit loophole alone totaled $4.2 billion. Yes, that’s billion, my friends.

Some illegal aliens are receiving $10,000 or more in rebates from the IRS because of these loopholes, claiming 7, 8 or 9 children, nieces or nephews on their tax return — none of whom reside in the U.S.

You may be wondering how illegal aliens — who do not even have a Social Security number — can even file the tax return necessary to get a tax refund. Our geniuses in the federal bureaucracy have taken care of this, as this stunning investigative report reveals.

The Current State of Academia

This is a real class act. A popular anti-bullying speaker bullies his audience of high school students attending a national journalism conference.

The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”

Savage, and his husband, were also guests at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception. He was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference.

Savage was supposed to be delivering a speech about anti-bullying but it turned into an episode of Christian-bashing.

The conservative website CitizenLink was the first to report about the controversy. They interviewed a 17-year-old girl who was one of students who walked out of the auditorium.

“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”

Did I mention that Savage was a guest at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception, and was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference? Just thought I would let that sink in as you’re viewing this clip:

As the teenagers were walking out, Tuttle said that Savage heckled them and called them pansy-assed.

Savage did offer a sarcastic apology “if I hurt anyone’s feelings.”

“But I have a right to defend myself and to point out the hypocrisy of people who justify anti-gay bigotry by pointing to the Bible and insisting we must live by the code of Leviticus on this one issue and no other.”

Did I mention that this guy was a guest at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception? OK, just wanted to make sure.

If I Really Wanted America to Fail

Posted in: Reality Check | Comments (97)

You really have to wonder whether our elected officials truly want America to fail. Because with the policies we are adopting, that is precisely the road we are traveling – or more like running full throttle – toward European-style economic failure on a massive scale.

Our idiotic financial policies are abundantly clear, from Obamacare to the massive bailouts to the ridiculous amount of borrowing and spending. At the same time, you don’t have to look far to see the ongoing attacks on our freedom of speech, religious freedom, the sanctity of life, marriage, and all the other foundational values and liberties upon which our society was built.

Any many of these attacks are coming from agencies within our own federal government.

So when the next big policy debate comes up, put yourself in the position of the politician making the decision and ask yourself this question: “If I really wanted America to fail …?

This video brings my point a little sharper into focus.

The Reality of Our Income Tax Burden

Posted in: Get it Right | Comments (745)

Among the eye-opening findings in this year’s Index of Dependence on Government was the percentage of Americans who don’t pay income taxes, which now accounts for nearly half of the U.S. population. Meanwhile, most of that population receives generous federal benefits.

Specifically, the percentage of people who do not pay federal income taxes, and who are not claimed as dependents by someone who does pay them, jumped from 14.8 percent in 1984 to 49.5 percent in 2009. That means 151.7 million Americans paid nothing in 2009. By comparison, 34.8 million tax filers paid no taxes in 1984.

The rapid growth of Americans who don’t pay income taxes is particularly alarming for the fate of the American form of government.

Coupled with higher spending on government programs, it is already proving to be a major fiscal challenge.

This trend should be alarming to anyone who cherishes our republican form of government. When citizens who pay no income tax outnumber those who do, this majority of voters can now demand that the minority pay higher and higher taxes with no incentive for our elected leaders to stop the escalation.

Welcome to the European economy.

Jon Stewart — The voice for liberal perspectives

Posted in: The Right Angle | Comments (802)

The darling of the left, Jon Stewart, took his brand of vulgar comedy to a new despicable low, offending millions of Christians worldwide by placing a depiction of Jesus Christ’s Nativity over a woman’s genitals.

The left is shameless in their relentless assault on the Christian faith, and hardcore leftists like Jon Stewart and Bill Maher lead the charge under the guise of “comedy.”

Yet these so-called comedians would never dare to offend Muslims by desecrating the Koran or any sacred Muslim image.

Jon Stewart thinks his anti-Christian vulgar comedy is bold and daring. But the truth is that Jon Stewart repeatedly desecrates Christian images because he is a coward. He knows he can offend Christians—but NOT Muslims—with impunity and not suffer any consequences.

The disgraceful liberal media laugh at Jon Stewart’s sacrilegious “comedy” routines, never daring to criticize their favorite comedian. He’s one of their heroes, saying all the things they want to say but can’t.

The left’s shameless promotion of anti-Christian zealotry is an affront to all decent people of all religious faiths.

Before you cast your vote this November in the presidential election, there are just a few things you should know about Mr. Obama — facts that you’ll likely never see or hear from the mainstream media. So I’m just doing my part to keep people informed … if they are so inclined.

Our Freedoms are being stolen as America Sleeps

Posted in: Express Lane | Comments (1,430)

Last month, President Obama issued an Executive Order – empowering himself with the authority to declare martial law and seize American resources and manpower – in a sweeping power grab that should disturb every American.

This is yet another emerging battleground in the Obama administration’s intensifying war on the Constitution.

Under President Obama, the Executive Branch’s quest for power at the expense of the other two Branches appears to be accelerating. In fact, the administration’s propensity to sidestep the Constitution is making news nearly every day now.

According to columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner of The Washington Times, through his quietly announced “National Defense Resources Preparedness” Executive Order (EO) signed on March 16th, President Obama placed himself and certain government bureaucrats above the law.

That single EO granted the power “to commandeer all U.S. domestic resources, including food and water, as well as seize all energy and transportation infrastructure inside the borders of the United States.”

Further, the government can also forcibly draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill “labor requirements” for the purposes of “national defense.” There is not even any congressional oversight allowed – only briefings, says Kuhner.

Mr. Kuhner called Obama’s power grab, “stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution… He now possesses the potential powers of a dictator.”

President Obama’s stunning agenda to “fundamentally transform” the United States of America has now been fully exposed as a systematic assault on our Constitution in order to form a more socialized union.

Just thought I would share that with you.

NBC News Deceptively Edits 911 Call

Posted in: Reality Check | Comments (1,567)

NBC’s news operation is out of control. They’ve turned a once-credible news organization into a platform for spreading hate and inciting racial tension to further a political agenda. The way NBC has covered the Trayvon Martin shooting is shameful and is just the latest example of journalistic malpractice among the major news networks.

In an NBC segment featuring George Zimmerman’s 911 call on the night of the Trayvon Martin shooting, Zimmerman is heard saying: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

The full version, though, unfolds like this:

Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”

911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?”

Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

NBC maliciously and deceptively edited a tape of Zimmerman’s 911 call to further incite racial animosity. To make matters worse, NBC News employee Al Sharpton is in Florida using the misleading reporting and fabricated evidence to stir up hatred.

After watching the video, (or watching 5 minutes of MSNBC) there can be no doubt that this so-called “news” network is in fact a deplorable propaganda arm for the radical Left.

NBC and its employees have crossed the line from engaging in liberal bias to committing outright fraud, while one of its primetime hosts is inciting civil unrest.

And this is the same network that will be reporting on the upcoming presidential election and moderating the debates? That should give everyone an added level of confidence that we will be getting a complete picture of the candidates. I suddenly feel a bit queezy.

The Massive Financial Strain of Public Unions

Posted in: Get it Right | Comments (1,307)

You wanna know the real reason our state and local governments are going broke? Here’s a clue: PUBLIC UNIONS. This is the case for states all across the country and is especially true in the liberal bastions of California, New York and New Jersey.

Here’s one example of this contempt and disregard for the taxpayer.

It’s in New York City that 66-year-old teacher Alan Rosenfeld is relegated to one of the city’s “rubber rooms” after being deemed a danger to his students and refuses to leave. To add insult to injury, Rosenfeld is still pulling down $100,049 a year in salary, plus health benefits, a growing pension, and vacation and sick pay.

Oh, and he’s worth a cool $10 million. Because there is no mandatory retirement age for teachers in New York State, the city Department of Education has no recourse but to let Rosenfeld stay as long as he likes. And he likes.

The city has only itself to blame. Rosenfeld was accused in 2001 of making lewd comments to students and ogling eighth-grade girls. These were grounds for dismissal that even the powerful American Federation of Teachers would have had a tough time defending. But the DOE failed to produce enough witnesses at a hearing to make the charges stick.

The only choices available were to return Rosenfeld to the classroom or send him to a rubber room. Officials opted for the latter and Rosenfeld continued to draw a paycheck from the city while enriching himself by managing a portfolio of lucrative investment properties.

OK, here’s the best part: If he quit today at full retirement, his pension would total around $85,400 a year. Rosenfeld is currently one of six hangers-on in a broken system that is draining $650,000 a year from the city coffers.

The next time your local school board and city council come asking for a new property tax increase, you might want to do a little research into how efficiently they are spending what they already have.
