If Crazy Had a Face

There’s enough truth in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s famous list of hate groups to hide one huge example of hate: the SPLC’s own. Look at how they treat views that everyone considered mainstream America just a couple decades ago — views that a majority of Americans still consider right and good. Did you know that among the hate groups SPLC lists are these: the Family Research Council, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Liberty Counsel, the Ruth Institute, and the American Family Association? If you search its list for “family,” you find the group lists these conservative groups with groups like the National...

Blinded By Science

The universal lockdown of the country following the COVID-19 outbreak raised tensions through every segment of American society. The social and economic disruptions sparked protests all over the country, most famously in Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. These protests were quickly denounced by media personalities, medical experts, and politicians who claimed that the risk of spreading the virus made it foolish to gather in such ways. Consider Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, who said that those protests were risking the health of the people of her state, that they “make it likelier that we are going to have to stay in a stay-at-home posture,”...

Vandalism Run Amok

Night after night, in cities across the US, we witness marauding mobs toppling statues and celebrating as if such destruction constituted a great accomplishment. To these statute demolishers, and their apologists in our politics and the media, these destructive acts are righteous victories over the forces of racism. But performative violence against marble figures has nothing to do with George Floyd, police brutality or discrimination. At first, media reports stressed that vandals were concentrating on Confederate monuments. They presented the vandals as valiant avengers who were righting historical wrongs and ridding the US of symbols of its racist past. But it...

Truth: The New Hate Speech

"The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it." Void of any coherent argument or solid reasoning, hate and intolerance is the typical response you get from today's Liberal Left. Liberalism, as evidenced by the modern-day leading Democratic voices, is a bankrupt political philosophy that is inherently hypocritical. It claims to be based on tolerance but is only tolerant of those who agree with them. It asserts equality, except when the elites amass huge fortunes. And, in the end, it attempts to, by necessity, compel compliance with its oppressive and intolerant policies....

When Mob Rule Prevails

The tendency to lash out against things you deem offensive used to be a disagreeable tic of undergraduates. Now the impulse is spreading. The mob led by a cop-hating North Korea sympathizer that pulled down a 1924 statue of a generic Confederate soldier in Durham, N.C., was acting out of a well-justified sense that authorities were not in the mood to maintain order. Police did nothing except take pictures; Governor Roy Cooper meekly tweeted that “there is a better way to remove these monuments”; Durham County’s public-information office made Cooper sound like John Wayne when it declared, even more mildly,...
